Many Reasons To Get Plastic Surgery :  What Are Yours?

Plastic Surgery

There are many different reasons people have plastic surgery done. Just as there are many different types of plastic surgery. First, it's important to realize there's a difference between "plastic surgery" and "cosmetic surgery." Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty devoted to the repair of defects of form or function-- this includes reconstructive surgery. It is performed to restore body parts or usage to normal or to a more acceptable condition.

The term "cosmetic surgery" however, refers only to surgery designed to improve the appearance alone. Today, women are more health-conscious than ever before, and self-conscious. They want to look their best and they realize that cosmetic surgery can take years off and enhance their looks with very natural-looking results. And, it is no longer a luxury affordable only for celebrities and the well to do.

Their personal reasons may center around breasts that they think are under developed, or over developed. Or because of unbecoming changes as a result of pregnancy, breast feeding, weight loss and aging.

The nose is another area of woman's great concern. A bump in the bridge, nostrils too wide or short or too pug--can damage a woman's lifelong image of herself to the point of self-imposed seclusion. The jowls, chin and neck, areas that seem to show signs of aging first-- hen sculpted down by a skilled surgeon to more youthful profiles--can do wonders for a woman's perception of herself.

What used to be considered only for women, today, many men use plastic surgery to improve many areas of their lives as well. Social life, personal life and especially work life--the white collar crowd associates success in climbing up the executive ladder with good looks. So, they have liposuction done, their noses reshaped, get eye lifts and skin re-surfacing--finding out that cosmetic surgery does what thousands of hours at the gym never could.

As long as you're doing it for the right reasons and don't expect miracles, chances are you'll be happy with the results. Expect to get improvement, not perfection--and plastic and cosmetic surgeries can take your opinion of yourself to levels of self-confidence and self-esteem you may never have had in your entire life.
